Tameside
The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme is a major government initiative aimed at rebuilding and renewing school facilities in England to 21st century standards. In Tameside, BSF has meant an investment of approximately £300 million for the Tameside BSF programme and formed part of the UK Government’s £45 billion Building Schools for the Future programme to create better secondary and special schools to teach and learn in.
inspiredspaces and its joint venture partners in the Local Education Partnership (LEP), which comprises of Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, BSF Investments Limited and Carillion, has potential to deliver twelve secondary and special schools, at a capital cost of £173 million in wave 3 of the BSF programme.

By creating radically improved school environments and educational climates, inspiredspaces in partnership with Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council will create the transformational step change for learners and the wider communities.
Carillion chief executive, John McDonough, said: “Education is a strong growth sector for Carillion and we are delighted to have reached financial close on another major BSF programme. We look forward to working with our partners to deliver these new schools and to achieving Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council’s vision of providing transformational learning that raises the aspirations and expectations of the people of Tameside.”
